John Herman, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer, Ochsner North Shore Region
John Herman currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the North Shore Region for Ochsner Health System. His areas of responsibility include all clinics and hospitals on the North Shore in Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, including North Shore Rehabilitation Hospital in Lacombe, La., Ochsner Medical Center-Hancock in Bay St. Louis, Miss., Ochsner Medical Center-North Shore in Slidell, La., and integrated partnerships with St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, La., and Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell, La.
Prior to moving into this role, Herman served as Chief Operating Officer for Ochsner Medical Center – Ochsner’s flagship hospital in New Orleans, La. He oversaw over 2,500 clinical and non-clinical professionals and all areas of hospital operations, and supported centers of excellence in cancer, cardiology, neurology, pediatrics, transplant and women’s services.
Prior to joining Ochsner in 2014, Herman worked in various leadership roles over 18 years within the Catholic Health System in Western New York including the Chief Operating Officer for Mercy Hospital of Buffalo for five years. He was also the Chief Operating Officer for Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a member of several community boards including the St. Tammany West Chamber Advisory Board, North Shore Healthcare Alliance and United Way of Southeast Louisiana Leader Advisory Group. Herman has held leadership roles in St. Vincent DePaul Society, Canisius College Sports Hall of Fame and The Foundation of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in biology from Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., and holds a Master of Business Administration from State University of New York at Buffalo. In addition, Herman earned his Managing Healthcare Delivery Executive Certificate from Harvard Business School in Boston, Mass.
