John Herman, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer, Ochsner North Shore Region
John J. Herman is the Chief Executive Officer of the North Shore Region for Ochsner Health System. His areas of responsibility include all clinics and hospitals in the system from Covington, LA to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
Prior to moving into his North Shore role, John served as Chief Operating Officer for Ochsner Medical Center – Jefferson Highway in New Orleans, Louisiana. As Chief Operating Officer, Herman oversaw over 2,000 clinical and non-clinical professionals and all areas of hospital operations, supporting centers of excellence such as: Ochsner Cancer Institute, Ochsner Multi-Organ Transplant Center and the John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute.
Prior to joining Ochsner in 2014, John worked in various leadership roles over 18 years within the Catholic Health System in Western New York including the Chief Operating Officer for Mercy Hospital of Buffalo for five years. He was also the Chief Operating Officer for Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
He earned his bachelor of arts in Biology from Canisius College and holds a master of business administration from State University of New York at Buffalo. In addition, he earned his Managing Healthcare Delivery Executive Certificate from Harvard Business School. Herman is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has held leadership roles in St. Vincent DePaul Society, Canisius College Sports Hall of Fame and The Foundation of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo.
