NEW ORLEANS – Today, medical students across the nation celebrated the next phase in their journey to become physicians when they received their results from the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). This included students with the Ochsner Clinical School in New Orleans where 51 of the 55 students who entered the Match received residency spots for a 93% Match rate.
The Ochsner graduates will soon be at hospitals across the country, including Rutgers, Boston University, Case Western Reserve, Cleveland Clinic, University of South Carolina, University of Connecticut and University of Alabama Birmingham. In New Orleans, Ten graduates are returning to Ochsner for residencies in Internal Medicine, Ob/Gyn, Anesthesiology, Urology, Orthopedics and Ophthalmology.

The students graduated in December 2015 and will begin their residencies in July 2016. Ochsner Clinical School students complete two years of study at The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, followed by two years of clinical study at Ochsner. This innovative medical education program that spans two continents was established in 2009 with a strong focus on the primary care field.
The Ochsner Clinical School program continues to grow. Currently, 236 students are enrolled in the first two years of the program in Australia. In New Orleans, there are 122 students in their third year and 100 in their fourth year.
