Ochsner and GE Healthcare Challenge Healthcare Innovators at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week
Ochsner and GE Healthcare Sponsor Inaugural Health Innovation Summit
New Orleans, LA, March 13, 2015 – Ochsner Health and GE Healthcare announced today their three-year commitment to The Idea Village as co-sponsors of what will be an annual Healthcare Innovation Summit. The inaugural event launches at the New Orleans Entrepreneur Week 2015 (NOEW) later this month and is expected to attract attendees from across the country. This commitment builds on Ochsner and GE’s long-standing collaboration to bring innovation to both the healthcare industry and to the greater Gulf South region.
The Summit will introduce a multi-year innovation challenge, providing resources to local entrepreneurs to catalyze new ideas within the medical industry. Each year’s theme will tackle some of the healthcare industry’s toughest challenges, with this first year focused on transforming health outcomes with ‘wearable’ technology.
Ochsner, which has served the greater New Orleans community for more than 75 years, GE with its diverse portfolio of technology solutions and The Idea Village, a leading New Orleans-based entrepreneur engine, collaborated on the Summit design. The intent is to create a forum that will serve as an incubator for ideas that support further innovation and solutions to today’s healthcare challenges.
The Health Innovation Summit on Thursday, March 26 from 1-4 p.m. at The Chicory (612 Fulton Street) will highlight the intersection of healthcare, entrepreneurship, and technology by highlighting innovative trends and the global and local application of these trends through entrepreneurial ventures. The Summit will culminate with Ted Talk-style presentations from local and national healthcare entrepreneurs followed by an official Innovation Challenge announcement. The day will conclude with a keynote address to the full NOEW 2015 audience from Beth Comstock, GE’s Chief Marketing Officer.
“Because of our high quality patient care and our commitment to evolving technology within the industry, Ochsner is now a leading healthcare destination for patients across the nation,” said Warner Thomas, CEO of Ochsner Health System. “As innovators who have worked with GE for more than 10 years, we are thrilled to bring this inspirational Summit to New Orleans’s most dynamic entrepreneurial event.”
