Ochsner Baptist Announces Opening of Phyllis M. and Patrick F. Taylor Auditorium

Ochsner Baptist - A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center is pleased to announce the opening of the Phyllis M. and Patrick F. Taylor Auditorium. The space, which has been vacant since sustaining damage in Hurricane Katrina, will be used for medical education, community events and celebrations. The Phyllis M. and Patrick F. Taylor Auditorium underwent extensive renovations thanks to a generous philanthropic investment from the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation and donations from the Ochsner Community.

The Phyllis M. and Patrick F. Taylor Auditorium features theater-style seating for up to 250, audiovisual capabilities and is equipped for people of varying abilities. The original auditorium opened in 1980s and served as a meeting space for physicians, hospital employees and community organizations.

During an opening celebration, Mrs. Phyllis Taylor, Chairman & President of the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation, Ochsner leaders and community members honored the legacy of the late Patrick F. Taylor and his contributions to the New Orleans community.

“Since Katrina, Ochsner Baptist has not had a venue where they could adequately conduct lectures, seminars or meetings. Due to the gracious generosity of the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation, the Phyllis M. and Patrick F. Taylor Auditorium provides them with an exceptional venue for all of their needs. And, just as importantly, this is in keeping with the mission of the Taylor Foundation to promote education and learning. This new facility will be an asset not only to Ochsner Baptist but also the entire community for years to come,” said Dr. Morrison Bethea, Patrick F. Taylor Foundation Trustee.

“The Phyllis M. and Patrick F. Taylor Auditorium will serve as a gathering place for celebrations, an educational resource and a community hub for our physicians, employees, patients and neighbors,” said Beth Walker, CEO, Ochsner Baptist. “We are invested in this community and are excited about the collaboration and opportunities that will be created in this beautiful new space.”

The opening of the Phyllis M. and Patrick F. Taylor Auditorium is one of many investments made to Ochsner Baptist’s campus and the surrounding community since the medical center joined Ochsner Health in 2006.
