Ochsner Health And NRC Louisiana (LA) Partner to Improve Treatment for Chronic Kidney Disease Patients
Ochsner Kidney Care – Jefferson Highway offers expert dialysis treatment close to home
Ochsner Kidney Care, a joint venture of Ochsner Health and NRC LA, will open five locations in 2021 to provide comprehensive, coordinated medical care and dialysis services to patients living with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease. The first location, Ochsner Kidney Care – Jefferson Highway, is now open to Ochsner patients at 320 Maine Street in Jefferson. This is the first joint venture of its kind in the region.
“We are excited to work with NRC to open centers dedicated to our patients who need to receive dialysis or other renal care services,” said Ochsner Health Chief Medical Officer Robert Hart, MD. “Patients with kidney disease often receive treatment for other conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease. Offering outpatient renal care services as part of the Ochsner system means patients can expect a more coordinated care experience for all of their health-related needs. It also means a more seamless transition from inpatient to outpatient kidney care.”
Louisiana has the sixth highest prevalence of end stage renal disease in the United States. Recognizing an opportunity to deliver a better experience for patients who must rely on dialysis and other renal care services, Ochsner partnered with NRC to enhance the quality of patient care provided at dialysis centers and across the Ochsner system.
“Our organizations share a commitment to evidence-based renal care and improved health outcomes for people with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease,” said Ivo Lukitsch, MD, medical director, Ochsner Kidney Care – Jefferson Highway. “Together, Ochsner and National Renal Care are taking a personal, individualized approach to raising the quality of care for patients in New Orleans.”
Ochsner and NRC formed Ochsner Kidney Care, which will deliver a holistic approach as part of a new standard of care for people living with kidney disease. The new Ochsner Kidney Care centers, under the direction of the Ochsner Nephrology team, will provide comprehensive kidney care and long-term disease management for improved quality of life. Ochsner Kidney Care – Jefferson Highway opened its doors to Ochsner patients on Monday, June 7.
“We are thrilled about this new era in our organization,” said Juan Carlos Velez, MD, nephrology chair, Ochsner Health. “Putting patients first has always been our priority. Our new care delivery system will maximize our ability to provide the most optimal and comprehensive care to individuals affected with chronic kidney disease in our region.”
At Ochsner Kidney Care – Jefferson Highway, patients can expect clinical expertise and compassionate patient care during visits. Available services include:
