Ochsner Health Center For Children Celebrates One Year in West Monroe
Additional staff and services added to meet demand
NEW ORLEANS – Last April, Ochsner Health System expanded into Northeast Louisiana with the addition of the Ochsner Health Center for Children – West Monroe. On Wednesday, April 6, the center celebrated the past year and continues to work towards further growth and expanded services.
Residents of Quachita Parish and surrounding areas are taking advantage of the latest technology and new services offered at the center, including nephrology services, pulmonary services and pediatric gastroenterology services.
In addition to Terry King, M.D., the center has grown to include seven visiting physicians from other Ochsner locations from around the state, to provide the best care available to the children of Northeast Louisiana and their families.
Dr. King, a trusted pediatric cardiologist in the Monroe area for decades, said before joining Ochsner, meeting the growing demand for some pediatric services had become a challenge, forcing families to travel long distances for the care their loved ones required.
“It’s about improving the overall health of our community,” said Dr. King. “It’s been extremely rewarding to offer convenient care so patients can take care of their health care needs close to home.”
The center has also added Adult Congenital Heart Disease services as an extension of care once pediatrics patients who suffer from congenital heart defects reach adulthood.
Visiting physicians include:
- Scott Macicek, M.D. Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology
- Victor “Sam” Lucas, M.D. Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology
- Jessica Mouledoux, M.D. Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology
- Radhakrishna Baliga, M.D. Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology
- Derek Pepiak, M.D. Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology
- Brian Morris, M.D. Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology
- Thomas Young, M.D. Pediatric Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease
