Ochsner Health Acquires New Orleans Urgent Care

Downtown locations increase coordinated access across the area

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Ochsner Health(Ochsner) announced that they have acquired New Orleans Urgent Care, increasing access to convenient, non-emergency care in the Greater New Orleans area. Going forward, New Orleans Urgent Care will become part of Ochsner Health System, and Ochsner will manage the day-to-day operations at its two locations in the Warehouse District (900 Magazine St.) and French Quarter (201 Decatur St.).

“With the acquisition of New Orleans Urgent Care, Ochsner continues to expand access to convenient, quality care close to home for non-emergent illness or injury,” said Dawn Pevey, System Vice President of Service Lines, Ochsner Health System. “Now with 14 urgent care locations across the greater New Orleans, North Shore and Bayou regions, Ochsner is committed to ensuring that the most appropriate level of care is accessible to patients when and where they need it.”

According to Becker’s Healthcare Review, the number of urgent care facilities is expected to increase 5.8 percent each year through 2018 to meet the growing patient demand. Through Ochsner’s urgent care clinics, patients experience a coordination of resources that ensure seamless access to the depth and breadth of all Ochsner services.

Through this partnership, the clinic’s electronic medical record (EMR) will be upgraded to the industry-leading Epic software, greatly expanding the ability of the clinic to coordinate patient care across the entire Ochsner Health System. This transition allows patient information to be securely accessed by providers. No matter which Ochsner facility a patient chooses to access, the medical staff at that facility will have full access to the patient’s medical record, ensuring a higher level of coordinated care, which can improve outcomes and is a great benefit to patients.

Now Urgent Care patients can also reserve their spot online and access test results and healthcare resources through the patient portal, MyOchsner. The implementation and continuous optimization of Epic and MyOchsner demonstrate Ochsner’s commitment to consistently leading the industry in innovations that improve quality, access and convenience for patients.

“New Orleans Urgent Care has provided convenient, high-quality and cost-effective urgent care services since 2007, and Ochsner will enable us to grow and continue our mission of providing immediate, walk-in quality care for both locals and tourists in downtown New Orleans,” said Dr. Ajsa Nikolic, Medical Director, New Orleans Urgent Care.
