Ochsner Health Opens Doors to ALS Center
New center offers convenient and comprehensive care for patients at one location
NEW ORLEANS – Ochsner Health announces the opening of the new ALS Center at the Ochsner Center for Primary Care and Wellness. The center offers comprehensive care for patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and related disorders. The center’s team also provides patients with a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach with a personalized care plan to maximize each patient’s experience.
Sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s disease, more than 5,000 people are diagnosed with ALS each year. Ochsner’s goal is to provide those patients with the highest quality of care and services in one place. The center will allow them to be seen by all of specialists they need in one visit, helping to alleviate the difficulties of traveling to multiple appointments throughout the month.
“This center has provided our team of experts with the space and tools needed to diagnose and treat ALS under one roof,” said Dr. Daniel Larriviere, Medical Director for the Ochsner ALS Center. “We understand the challenges our patients and their families face each day, and we want to ensure they receive comprehensive treatment options that are also conveniently located.”
Ochsner patients will receive care from a comprehensive team that consists of a neurologist, nurse practitioner, licensed clinical social worker, pulmonologist, speech language pathologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, dietician and respiratory therapist.
The new clinic is located at 1401 Jefferson Hwy, just across the street on the north side of Ochsner Medical Center – Jefferson Highway. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call 504-842-4747.
