Ochsner Health to Expand Services in Mid-City

New urgent care and health center to open at corner of Carrollton and Canal

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Ochsner Health(Ochsner) announced the expansion of healthcare services in the heart of Mid-City with an urgent care and specialty health center. In February, the newest location of Ochsner Urgent Care is set to open in the 9,000-square foot facility at the corner of Canal and S. Carrollton, giving residents of Mid-City a convenient option for non-emergency illness or injury. A specialty health center will co-occupy the space, with women’s services starting in February and dermatology services beginning in March.

“We are excited to bring new healthcare services to Mid-City, building upon our primary care health center located in the Mid-City Market,” said Dawn Pevey, System Vice President of Service Lines, Ochsner Health System. “We look forward to continuing to advance our capacity and delivery of healthcare services to ensure the residents of Mid-City and surrounding neighborhoods have options for a wide-range of medical care close to home should they need it.”

The urgent care will also provide occupational health services, focused on the prevention, evaluation, treatment and resolution of work-related injuries, illnesses and diseases.

The new facility will be fully integrated with Ochsner’s electronic medical record, the industry-leading Epic software, greatly expanding coordination of patient care across the entire Ochsner Health System. Epic allows patient information to be securely accessed by all Ochsner providers, meaning that, no matter which Ochsner facility a patient chooses to visit, the medical staff at that facility will have full access to the patient’s medical record, ensuring the highest quality of care.

Patients at the new facility, and all patients throughout Ochsner Health System, also have access to MyOchsner, a secure online tool that allows patients to communicate with physicians, schedule online appointments, view lab and imaging results, prescription refills and more.
