MONROE, La. – The Ochsner LSU Health - Monroe Medical Center is offering free Glaucoma screenings on March 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The screenings are available to anyone 18 years of age or older and will take place in the main lobby of the Monroe Medical Center, 4864 Jackson Street, Monroe, La.
Glaucoma is
known as the silent thief of sight, as it is the leading cause of blindness
worldwide. Your chances of developing glaucoma increase as you age and with a
family history of glaucoma. Blindness is preventable with early regular
checkups and diligence with therapies. World Glaucoma Week, as designated by
the World Glaucoma Association, begins March 7 and more information can be
found at www.worldglaucomaweek.org.
