Ochsner Now Accepting Applications for New Medical Assistant Training Program
NEW ORLEANS – Ochsner Health System, Delgado Community College, JOB1 and Providence
Community Housing have partnered through a grant from New Orleans Works (housed at the Greater New Orleans Foundation) to offer the MA N.O.W. program.
The “MA N.O.W.” Training Program is a tuition-free Medical Assistant training and development program targeted to the unemployed and underemployed workers of the New Orleans area.
The program covers a four month period in which students receive classroom and clinical instruction as well as hands-on training rotations in a number of clinical departments within Ochsner Health System. Additionally, the program also includes training for students to be certified in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
To be eligible to apply, the applicant must have a High School diploma or equivalency, successful completion of drug screen and criminal background check, and ability to commit to the 16-week program scheduled October 6, 2014-January 29, 2015.
After successfully completing the program and hiring requirements, 100% of the graduates will have the opportunity to interview for positions and 75% or more will be hired as a full-time Medical Assistant at an Ochsner Health Centers location in the New Orleans area.
