Ochsner Offering New Program Treating Erectile Dysfunction and Low Testosterone
NEW ORLEANS – Ochsner Health System is now offering a new program at Ochsner Medical Center - Jefferson Highway and Ochsner Baptist - A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center, where men diagnosed with or suspected to have Erectile Dysfunction (ED) or Low Testosterone (Low T) can benefit from a concierge-style service, designed to identify the more serious health risks often associated with these issues.
The Men’s Health programs at Ochsner Baptist and Ochsner Medical Center will allow patient access to multiple specialists, spanning from urology to cardiology and ophthalmology, on the same day, all in one location. This experienced group of physicians will collaborate to map out the risk factors and recommend the next steps in treating each patient’s individual issues. Patients will be escorted between specialists during their Men’s Health clinic appointment, with their final results and next steps being reviewed at the end of the process.
“Many people do not realize that ED and Low T can often be linked to more serious conditions like cardiac issues, high blood pressure and diabetes,” said Eric Laborde, M.D., Director, Men’s Health Clinic, Ochsner Medical Center. “By offering this service to our patients, we are able to provide them with a multi-specialty overview of their health, giving them a complete picture of their more serious health risks.”
Testosterone is an important male hormone that powers a man’s sex drive, reproductive abilities and even the development of muscle and bone. When testosterone levels get too low, men often suffer from a lower sex drive, decreased energy levels and/or feelings of moodiness.
Meanwhile, ED could be the result of many factors and requires a more comprehensive snapshot of the patient’s health to figure out. Most men have enough testosterone to maintain erections even after age 60.
