Ochsner Urgent Care Opens New Clinic in Central Business District

Ochsner Urgent Care brings healthcare to Central Business District professionals and residents with the opening of Ochsner Urgent Care & Occupational Health – CBD at 701 Poydras Street, Suite 107.

The 3,050 square foot facility is located on the first floor of the Whitney Hancock building (formerly One Shell Square) and features four exam rooms and one larger treatment room. The clinic offers a variety of walk-in services for adult and pediatric (six months and up) patients and is equipped to treat lacerations; abscesses; coughs, colds and sore throats, urinary pain; earaches; minor burns, rashes, sunburns and heat ailments; non-life-threatening allergic reactions; fevers or flu-like symptoms; mild to moderate stomach aches; rashes or other skin irritations; select immunizations and workers’ comp injuries.

“By offering high-quality healthcare within walking distance of your downtown office building or residence, we are fulfilling a vital need for our thriving downtown community,” said Dawn Pevey MBA, BSN, RN, System Vice President of Service Lines, Ochsner Health System.

The CBD clinic also offers the following occupational health services: pre-employment physicals; drug and alcohol screening; pulmonary function testing; immunizations for international travel; Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) approved audio screening; initial post-injury care; treatment for chemical exposure; treatment for early return to work and occupational therapy referral.

“Ochsner Urgent Care is dedicated to making healthcare accessible, regardless of where you work, live or play,” said Granville Morse, III, MD, System Chair, Ochsner Urgent Care.

With the opening of Ochsner Urgent Care & Occupational Health – CBD, Ochsner Urgent Care now offers walk-in care at 15 different urgent care clinics and one dedicated occupational medicine clinic. Additionally, Ochsner Urgent Care teamed up with the University of New Orleans earlier this year to open an on-campus clinic for the university’s students, faculty and staff called Ochsner Health Center – UNO.

Like other Ochsner Urgent Cares, the new CBD location connects patients to the entire Ochsner Health network of facilities and physicians through Epic – Ochsner’s integrated electronic health record system, which enables Ochsner physicians to securely share patient information, resulting in a higher level of coordinated care across the system. Patients can also use personalized MyOchsner accounts to access tests results and schedule appointments online with primary care physicians and other specialists throughout the Ochsner Health System.

Ochsner Urgent Care & Occupational Health – CBD was designed by Holly & Smith Architects and constructed by Ryan Gootee General Contractors, L.L.C. Construction on the facility began early December 2018.

Ochsner Urgent Care & Occupational Health – CBD will be open Monday – Thursday from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM and Friday from 7:30 AM – 1 PM. For more information visit Ochsner.org/urgentor call 504.703.1350.
