Ochsner policy requires that all media queries be directed to Ochsner Health System’s Public Relations Department. Public Relations must approve all requests for interviews, video and photographs with patients, physicians or employees at Ochsner facilities in advance of scheduling.
Please note that hospital policy requires that an Ochsner PR representative must accompany all media personnel during their visits to Ochsner facilities.
When news crews must be dispatched immediately, the assignment editor or reporter should call 504-703-0220 and let the PR staff know a crew is on the way. News media should not set up cameras in any Ochsner or Ochsner-affiliated emergency department ambulance driveway or in any place that blocks patient access to an emergency department entrance.
In compliance with applicable state and federal laws including, but not limited to, HIPAA privacy regulations, no information can be given that violates the confidentiality, privacy or legal rights of patients.
All interviews with patients, including telephone interviews, must be approved in advance by Ochsner Public Relations.
Access to patients will be arranged if the patient or patient's guardian is willing and his/her condition permits. This is to ensure the patient's health is not adversely affected and ability to consent to an interview is not compromised by illness, injury or medications.
We appreciate your cooperation and ask that you respect our obligation to protect our patients' well-being and legal right to privacy.
