Dr. Shashank Cingam Joins Ochsner LSU to Advance Cancer Care

SHREVEPORT, La. – Ochsner LSU Health is proud to welcome Shashank Cingam, MD, as the Clinical Director of Blood and Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) and Cellular Therapy at Ochsner LSU Health – Feist-Weiller Cancer Center. 

 

Dr. Cingam is a clinician and clinical investigator who specializes in cellular therapies and hematopoietic stem cell transplants to treat blood disorders. His clinical focus is on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of blood cancers and related disorders. He plans to advance cellular therapies such as allogeneic stem cell transplants, which is a medical procedure where a patient receives healthy stem cells from a donor to replace their own damaged or diseased stem cells.  

 

Dr. Cingam earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences in Telangana, India, and completed his internal medicine residency at LSU Health Shreveport. 

 

To further his expertise, Dr. Cingam completed two advanced fellowships. The first was in Hematology/Oncology at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the second in Blood and Bone Marrow Transplantation/Cell Therapy at Stanford University. 

 

He is triple board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology. 

 

As the Director of BMT and Cellular Therapy, Dr. Cingam plans to create a comprehensive program to expand access to cellular therapies, transplants, and clinical trials for patients in North Louisiana and the surrounding region. He is committed to working closely with physicians in the region to improve patient care and outcomes. 

 

In addition to his role at Ochsner LSU Health, Dr. Cingam serves as an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at LSU Health Shreveport.
