SHREVEPORT, La. – Ochsner LSU Health is proud to welcomefellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon Kevin Purcell, MD, to Ochsner LSU Health – Viking Drive and Ochsner LSU Health – Ambulatory Care Center. Dr. Purcell specializes in hip and knee replacement, as well as orthopedic trauma, focusing on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with complex fractures, arthritis and joint reconstruction needs.
Dr. Purcell earned his medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Furthering his expertise, Dr. Purcell completed two fellowships: the first in adult reconstruction at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina and the second in orthopedic trauma at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Purcell joins Ochsner LSU Health after spending two years at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. He also serves as an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at LSU Health Shreveport as well as associate director of the orthopedic residency program.
