New physicians join Ochsner Lafayette General to support growing patient needs in Acadiana

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – Ochsner Lafayette General welcomes new providers in the Acadiana region who bring expertise in sports medicine, psychiatry, internal medicine and oncology.  

  • Christopher Tosino, DO, specializes in sports medicine at Ochsner Lafayette General Andrews Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute. He is board-certified in family medicine and fellowship-trained in primary care sports medicine. He specializes in non-surgical orthopedic care, with expertise in sports-related injuries, running injuries, concussions, fractures and ultrasound-guided procedures, including platelet-rich plasma and trigger point injections. Dr. Tosino earned his medical degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dublin, Ohio. He completed a residency at Dublin Methodist Hospital and a sports medicine fellowship at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine - Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. 

  • Allie Williams, MD, is board certified in psychiatry and practices psychiatry at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. She specializes in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management, while also incorporating non-medication strategies to support each patient’s overall wellbeing. Dr. Williams earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health New Orleans. She is passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and empowering patients to seek support without shame or judgment and is currently accepting new patients. 

  • Marae Schexnayder, MD, is a native of Scott, La. and board-certified internal medicine physician at Southside Family Health in Lafayette. Dr. Schexnayder earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Smith, Ark. in 2022. She completed her residency training in internal medicine at Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans. Dr. Schexnayder specializes in osteopathic manipulative medicine, offering hands-on treatment for both acute and chronic pain.

  • Nowell J. Ganey, MD, is a medical oncologist at Ochsner Acadia General Hospital. He received his medical degree from American University of Antigua College of Medicine. He went on to complete his internship, residency and fellowship in hematology oncology at LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine. Dr. Ganey is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His clinical experiences span a broad range of both hematologic conditions to solid tumors.
