Ochsner Baton Rouge adds new specialists to its care team

BATON ROUGE, La. – As part of its continued investment in specialty care access for the Baton Rouge community, Ochsner Baton Rouge welcomes several new members of its care team who are now accepting new patients.

 

Marie Barker, NP, is a board-certified nurse practitioner who specializes in cancer care at the Hereditary and High-Risk Clinic at Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove. She helps with cancer risk assessment, preventive care and coordinating services for patients and families with family cancer risk concerns, as well as resources related to cancer prevention and early detection. She earned a master’s degree in nursing from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

 

Adaku Adebamiji, MD, is a children’s gastroenterologist at Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove. She diagnoses and treats gastrointestinal, liver-related and nutritional disorders in infants, children and adolescents. She also treats patients with constipation, inflammatory bowel disease, throat disorders, celiac disease, abdominal pain, feeding difficulties, pancreatic disorders and polyposis syndromes. Dr. Adebamiji earned a medical degree from Meharry Medical College. She completed a pediatric residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital followed by fellowship training in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital. She is board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology.  

 

David Osafo, MD, is a hematologist-oncologist at Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove.  He specializes in malignant tumors and blood disorders, both cancerous and noncancerous. Dr. Osafo earned a medical degree from the University of Science and Technology in Ghana. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. He is board certified in hematology and oncology. Dr. Osafo is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and the American College of Physicians.
