Ochsner Baton Rouge adds new specialty physicians and advanced practice providers

BATON ROUGE, La. – As part of its continued investment in specialty care access for the Baton Rouge community, Ochsner Baton Rouge welcomes several new physicians and advanced practice providers who are now accepting new patients.  

John Bates, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist at Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge, specializing in outpatient mental healthcare. He provides personalized treatment with medication management and evidence-based strategies for a wide range of psychiatric conditions. His interests include adult psychiatry, addiction medicine, and telehealth to improve access to care. Dr. Bates earned a medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine, where he also completed a psychiatric residency. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. 

Tiffany Richardson, NP, is a board-certified nurse practitioner at Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove. She practices in the Lifestyle & Wellness department, helping patients improve health through customized plans for nutrition guidance, exercise, behavioral support and medical management. Her experience in internal medicine and teaching helps her in educating patients about their care. Richardson earned a master’s degree in nursing from Nicholls State University. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and a member of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners. 

Lyndsey Lowder, NP, is a board-certified nurse practitioner providing orthopedic medicine at Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove. She cares for patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, specializing in care for knees and total knee replacements. She works closely with the surgical team to evaluate, diagnose and manage injuries and chronic orthopedic problems, focusing on patient education and treatment planning. She also has experience in pediatric primary care and critical care settings. Lowder earned a master’s degree in family nursing studies from Nicholls State University.  

Yasmin Bennie, NP, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in hepatology at Ochsner Health Center – O'Neal. She provides comprehensive care for individuals with liver disease, focusing on coordinating treatment, managing chronic conditions and patient education across all stages of care. She also has experience in gastroenterology and hospice care. Yasmin earned a master’s degree in nursing from Frontier Nursing University. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners and Gastroenterology and Hepatology Advanced Practice Providers.
