BATON ROUGE, La. – Expecting parents are invited to learn more about pregnancy, childbirth and newborn care at O Baby, A Maternity Experience. There is no cost to attend the event taking place on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge, 17000 Medical Center Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
This community event gives families an opportunity to tour the Ochsner labor and delivery and mother-baby units, meet members of the maternity care team, have baby car seat installations inspected by state police and learn about resources available throughout pregnancy, delivery and the first days at home with a newborn. Local vendors will be on-site as well.
“O Baby gives expecting families an opportunity to see where they’ll welcome their new baby, meet the people who will support them and get prepared for delivery day,” said Juan Vargas, MD, an Ochsner obstetrician-gynecologist. “We want families to feel informed, comfortable and confident about their care, and know they have a team ready to support them throughout their pregnancy and beyond.”
Ochsner midwives, OB-GYNs, pediatricians and nurses will be available throughout the event to meet families and answer questions. Attendees can also learn more about lactation support, preparing for a hospital stay, what to expect during labor and delivery, newborn care and resources available after returning home.
Expecting parents attending the event will have the opportunity to choose prenatal care with an Ochsner midwife, an OB-GYN or a combination of both, depending on their needs and preferences. The Ochsner maternity care team sees patients at locations in Baton Rouge, Zachary, Plaquemine and Prairieville, enabling patients and families to receive care closer to home.
O Baby also connects families with services and resources to support a healthy pregnancy and a safe start for their baby.
