Ochsner Cancer Institute Facilities Earn Reaccreditations

NEW ORLEANS – Six Ochsner Cancer Institute facilities have again earned accreditation from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American College of Radiology (ACR), two distinctions that reflect the comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care Ochsner provides patients across its health system.

The ASCO Quality Oncology Practice Initiative is a three-year accreditation that certifies that Ochsner’s oncology practices meet the highest quality standards for cancer care, along with each of the initiative’s evidenced-based core standards in chemotherapy treatment and patient care. This ASCO reaccreditation illustrates the delivery of the best, most comprehensive care to patients and was received by:

  • The Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center at Ochsner Medical Center
  • Ochsner Baptist—A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center
  • Ochsner Medical Center – West Bank
  • Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner
  • St. Tammany Cancer Center—A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center
  • Ochsner Cancer Center—Baton Rouge

Four Ochsner cancer centers also received ACR’s Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation. This three-year certification guarantees that cancer centers meet specific practice guidelines for radiation oncology, staff qualifications and training, high-level equipment standards and quality improvement programs.

The Ochsner facilities that earned the ACR accreditation are Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans, Ochsner Baptist—A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center, St. Tammany Cancer Center – A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center and Ochsner Cancer Center—Baton Rouge.
