Ochsner CHRISTUS Health Center welcomes Mir Akbar Khan, MD
LAKE CHARLES, La. – Mir Akbar Khan, MD, a long-time member of the Lake Charles community, has joined Ochsner CHRISTUS Health Center DeBakey East. A board-certified internal medicine specialist, Dr. Khan cares for patients at 333 Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive, Suite 220 in Lake Charles.
Dr. Khan is accepting new patients. He has been caring for adults and older patients in the Lake Charles area since 2001, helping with a variety of conditions, including:
High blood pressure and heart disease
Thyroid and endocrine disorders
Diabetes
Chronic digestive issues and constipation
High cholesterol
Muscle, bone and joint pain
Sudden illnesses like urinary tract infections, influenza and respiratory infections
Dr. Khan is known for taking time with patients and listening carefully to their needs. He focuses on preventive treatment to identify risks as early as possible. He also emphasizes lifestyle medicine, combining nutrition, physical activity and stress management, to help treat and reverse chronic conditions.
Dr. Khan earned a medical degree from the University of South Alabama and completed his residency and internship at the Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans. He is certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine.
