Ochsner Health expands pediatric and women’s care at The Grove

More physicians, expanded specialty care, more appointment availability and a longstanding partnership with Shaquille O'Neal reflect Ochsner's continued commitment to children and families across the Capital Region

BATON ROUGE, La. – Ochsner Health has expanded comprehensive pediatric and women’s healthcare services at Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove, adding more physicians, increasing appointment availability and creating additional space to serve more families across the Capital Region.

Through these expanded services, eight new physicians and upgraded clinical areas, families can conveniently access a wider array of specialized care for both adults and pediatric patients under one roof. These comprehensive advancements allow Ochsner to better accommodate the evolving healthcare requirements of the Capital Region community.

These strategic enhancements form a core component of a major multi-million dollar expansion at The Grove campus, featuring additional examination rooms, enhanced treatment spaces, and modernized facilities designed to bring exceptional medical care closer to home.

With the expansion, Ochsner has added six pediatric physicians, including two general pediatricians and four pediatric specialists in gastroenterology, cardiology, urology and neurology, as well as two obstetrician-gynecologists and more than 100 new team members.

A partnership rooted in children’s health

The continued growth of pediatric services at The Grove is reflected in expanded physician expertise, services and care options for families. New signage for the Ochsner Children's Shaquille O'Neal Pediatric Super Clinic recognizes O'Neal's longstanding philanthropic partnership with Ochsner and shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of children and families throughout the Capital Region.

O'Neal's commitment to supporting children, combined with his love for Baton Rouge and Louisiana, has made children’s health a natural focus for collaboration with Ochsner.

The collaboration reflects a shared dedication to improving access to high-quality pediatric care and supporting healthier futures for families throughout the Capital Region.

Expanded pediatric care for Baton Rouge families

A major component of the expansion is to offer more pediatric care services and availability at The Grove. Ochsner provides comprehensive care for children from birth through age 18, ranging from routine wellness visits and same-day sick care to advanced treatment for complex medical conditions.

Families can access same-day and next-day pediatric appointments in person or virtually, along with extended pediatric clinic hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays giving working parents more flexibility to schedule care around work and school.

The Ochsner Children’s Shaquille O’Neal Pediatric Super Clinic at The Grove brings together general pediatricians and pediatric specialists across a broad range of disciplines, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, dermatology, ear, nose and throat care, gastroenterology, general surgery, hepatology, interventional radiology, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, plastic and reconstructive surgery, pulmonology and urology.

The multidisciplinary team also supports children’s emotional, cognitive and physical development through behavioral health and specialized services including speech and language pathology, therapy and wellness, psychiatry and psychology.

Growing women’s healthcare services

The expansion builds on Ochsner’s comprehensive women’s healthcare at The Grove, by adding two additional OB-GYNs and expanded patient care space, while further strengthening connections between women's health and pediatric services for growing families.

Ochsner provides care for women at every stage of life, from preventive screenings and routine wellness visits to pregnancy, menopause and treatment for complex gynecologic conditions.

The women’s health team includes OB-GYNs, gynecologic oncologists, gynecologic surgeons, certified nurse midwives, maternal fetal medicine specialists and female pelvic health specialists. These specialists work together to develop individualized care plans based on each patient’s needs, while nurse navigators are available to answer questions and help coordinate appointments.

A comprehensive healthcare destination

The Grove provides patients with a broad range of services in a comfortable, modern environment. In addition to pediatric and women’s care, key services include primary care, cancer care, heart and vascular care, gastroenterology, orthopedics, neuroscience, behavioral health, radiology and diagnostic imaging, infusion services and physical and occupational therapy.

The Grove also offers overnight hospital care, surgical operating rooms, dedicated endoscopy rooms, pain management procedure rooms and an infusion center. Patient-focused amenities and technology include extended appointment hours, digital check-in kiosks and an MRI suite designed to help reduce patient anxiety.

Growing with Baton Rouge

The completed expansion is the latest milestone in Ochsner Baton Rouge’s $50 million, multi-phase effort to expand access to care and support the health of communities across the Capital Region. Through continued investments at Ochsner Medical Complex - The Grove and Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge, Ochsner is strategically transforming both campuses to increase appointments available to patients, making it easier for patients to connect with physicians and access advanced, best-in-class care closer to home. Ochsner plans to hire 80 physicians and advanced practice providers over the next two years to support the region’s continued growth and healthcare needs.
