Ochsner Health hospitals earn ‘As’ for patient safety

Several Ochsner Health hospitals across the Gulf South earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit organization focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns grades to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on preventing errors, accidents, injuries and infections.

“Achieving an 'A' grade across multiple Ochsner hospitals highlights the exceptional dedication, expertise and compassion of our teams," said Robert Hart, MD, chief physician executive at Ochsner Health. "This recognition stands as a testament to their commitment to safety and excellence in patient care. We are profoundly thankful for their hard work and the trust they continue to build within our communities every day.”

The following Ochsner Health hospitals and partners received an “A” grade from Leapfrog for Spring 2026:

“An ‘A’ grade is a strong sign that Ochsner is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
