Ochsner Health partners with Latent Health to accelerate AI-driven medication access

Launched in November 2023, the partnership has now expanded enterprise-wide, optimizing pharmacy workflows and boosting clinical productivity

NEW ORLEANS – Ochsner Health and Latent today announced a new three-year agreement, solidifying their collaboration as design partners since November 2023. The health system originally engaged Latent as a design partner to develop clinical AI tools for specialty, infusion, and retail pharmacy prior authorizations. After 18 months of rapid iteration and measurable impact, the organizations are formalizing the relationship to scale Latent’s platform enterprise-wide and fuel future innovation together.

“Latent removes the administrative burden that keeps nurses and pharmacists in front of screens instead of patients,” said Deborah Simonson, Vice President & Chief Pharmacy Officer, Ochsner Health. “Extending our partnership enables us to continue inventing smarter, simpler medication-access pathways at scale.”

Latent has reduced Ochsner’s prior authorization review times to four to five minutes — 75% faster than industry benchmarks — accelerating time-to-therapy and improving pharmacy team morale. Building on this success, Ochsner has named Latent its enterprise technology partner for medication access, powering pharmacy and medical benefit prior authorization workflows, appeals, and real-time eligibility audits across its expanding pharmacy network while developing new product iterations for future use cases.

“At Ochsner Health, we choose like-minded partners to help us deliver exceptional care and drive innovation. Together, we are shaping a future of enhanced patient outcomes and streamlined workflows for our providers. From day one, Latent has exemplified what it means to be a trusted partner, aligning with our long-term vision for success. It is a privilege to work with Latent, and we are excited to further strengthen this collaboration, building new efficiencies and setting new standards of excellence across our system,” said Amy Trainor, RN, Chief Information Officer, Ochsner Health.
