New Orleans, LA - Ochsner Health is proud to be the Official Medical Provider of the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee, led by the New Orleans Saints and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, for Super Bowl LIX. Over the past year, Ochsner has worked closely with the Host Committee and its partners to engage the local community and to ensure fans from across the country and world will have access to the highest quality medical care while in New Orleans. As part of its community outreach, Ochsner and partner organizations, including the New Orleans Saints, have hosted interactive learning opportunities for students across Greater New Orleans.
In its role as Official Medical Provider of the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee, Ochsner is leading medical efforts for this global event, including:
First responder support
Collaboration with local first responders is crucial to the success of major sporting events like the Super Bowl. In gratitude for their life-saving work, Ochsner recently donated iPads to the New Orleans Fire Department to assist in critical documentation. The New Orleans Police Department recently created an Emergency Medical Responder program, and Ochsner was honored to donate automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to the organization so patients can be rendered aid quickly during a medical emergency before being transported to the hospital.
Ochsner Super STEM Tour
A key component of Ochsner’s partnership with the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee is providing fun educational STEM opportunities for local students and teachers. Ochsner Education Outreach created the Ochsner Super STEM Tour with two components: A STEM curriculum of engaging activities and resources to help students, teachers and families develop active minds and bodies and an awards program for outstanding teachers and students in STEM. Over the past few months, Ochsner has hosted five Super STEM Bowls at schools in Greater New Orleans—Lake Forest Elementary, Lawrence Crocker, The Willow Middle School, Dr. John Ochsner Discovery School and Kenner Discovery School, reaching more than 3,000 students.
Ochsner Children’s to experience Super Bowl excitement
For pediatric patients, long hospital stays can be isolating, but Ochsner Children’s Child Life team goes above and beyond to make sure our smallest patients can experience some fun, even during an illness. Through Ochsner’s partnership with Ohmni, a product of Symbotic, Ochsner Children’s patients and their families will have the unique opportunity to experience the excitement of Super Bowl week from their hospital rooms.
Ochsner’s Ohmni telepresence robots are controlled by staff from a computer. They have day jobs providing in-hospital pharmacy support but will have a new task this week—virtually bringing pediatric patients to Super Bowl events Feb. 3-9. Under the supervision of Ochsner Information Systems and Child Life team members, patients will be able to drive the OhmniCare telehealth robots and the Ohmni telepresence robots and via the robot’s “face”—a large display, see and interact with those in attendance at the week’s special events.
