Ochsner Health, with Johnson and Johnson and Abundant Life Tabernacle to host men’s prostate cancer awareness event

Protect the Prostate event, Saturday, September 5 – 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.

Ochsner Health will host a men’s prostate cancer awareness event, Protect the Prostate, at the Abundant Life Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Church1701 Franklin Avenue on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon. 

Presented by Ochsner and Johnson and Johnson, with community partner, Abundant Life Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Church,  this prostate health event advances a core mission to improve healthcare access and health outcomes during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

“We are thankful for the Tabernacle’s support of Ochsner’s commitment to identify health needs and engage the community to promote men’s health, “said Yvens Laborde, MD chief community medical officer for Ochsner Health. “Our partner, the Abundant Life Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Church, has a significant impact on the community. We know that working together, we will help build a healthier Louisiana.” 

The Men’s Health Event will feature health screenings and “Barbershop Talks,” followed by a complimentary lunch. Dr. Brian L. Turner, Ph.D., of Abundant Life Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Church, will moderate the Barbershop Talks. Topics will include Protecting the Prostate: Men’s Sexual Health and Well-Being and Survivor Stories. Dr. Yvens Laborde, M.D., chief community medical officer for Ochsner Health, and Dr. Zoe L. Larned, M.D., medical director of Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center will participate. Mr. Reginald Arceneaux, deacon and member of The Abundant Life Tabernacle will share be a speaker. 

PSA screenings and health information will be available throughout the event.
