LAFAYETTE, La. - Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center (Ochsner LGMC) has been named among America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2025 by Newsweek for excellence in providing high-quality care to mothers and newborns. Delivering more babies than any other hospital in the region, Ochsner LGMC received the highest possible rating of five ribbons – standing out as the only hospital in Acadiana to achieve this distinction. Delivering more babies than any other hospital in the region, Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center was named the highest-rated hospital in Acadiana for maternity care, earning five ribbons from Newsweek—the top score awarded.

This annual ranking recognizes the top maternity hospitals in the U.S., spotlighting institutions that excel in providing exceptional care throughout the pregnancy, delivery and postpartum period. 

“This distinction reflects exceptional performance across a range of quality measures, including neonatal outcomes, patient experience, and adherence to best practices in maternity care,” said Al J. The America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2025 ranking awards by Newsweek and Statista are determined through a rigorous evaluation process, incorporating a nationwide online survey of healthcare professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about maternity processes, results from patient experience surveys, and hospital quality metrics from several sources with a focus on indicators relevant to maternity care.
