Ochsner LSU Health announces Dr. Dani Zoorob as Chief Medical Information Officer

SHREVEPORT, La. – Ochsner LSU Health is proud to announce the appointment of Dani Zoorob, MD MHA MBA MHI EdM as its new Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO). A distinguished physician and academic leader, Dr. Zoorob will guide the integration of clinical informatics and data-driven strategies to enhance patient care and health system operations across North Louisiana. 

Dr. Dani Zoorob brings a wealth of leadership experience to this new role. He currently serves as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ochsner LSU Health. He also holds an academic leadership position as Assistant Dean of Faculty Development at LSU Health Shreveport. His proven expertise in leading the OB/GYN department, implementing health system strategy and driving medical education innovation positions him to advance Ochsner LSU Health's commitment to delivering cutting-edge care to the community. 

In his role as CMIO, Dr. Zoorob will direct the optimization of Ochsner LSU Health’s electronic health record (EHR) system, which utilizes best-in-class technology to provide patients and care teams access to all medical records and information in one place. He will also lead data integration projects and advance quality care enhancement through technology. Dr. Zoorob will build on his record of executing strategic initiatives, including the development of maternal safety dashboards and digital care redesign, to ensure Ochsner LSU Health remains at the forefront of medical innovation and patient safety.

Dr. Zoorob is a board-certified urogynecologic surgeon and a nationally recognized surgical educator. His extensive background includes multiple advanced degrees and certifications in business administration, health administration, health informatics and educational leadership, reflecting his holistic approach to shaping the future of healthcare. He will continue to see patients at Ochsner LSU Health and serve in his leadership capacities at LSU Health Shreveport alongside his new responsibilities as CMIO. 

Ochsner LSU Health utilizes a number of innovative tools to improve efficiencies and enhance both the patient and clinician experience. The use of MyOchsner allows patients to manage their health at their fingertips, including scheduling appointments, viewing test results, messaging directly with their care team and even reserving urgent care appointments by joining a virtual queue. Additionally, software such as DeepScribe gives administrative time back to physicians, allowing for more time to be spent with patients. The program uses ambient listening to take digital notes for physicians during visits which results in more meaningful patient connections and less time spent on the computer.
