Ochsner LSU Health expands patient care team with three new physicians

MONROE, La. – Ochsner LSU Health is proud to welcome three new physicians to its team, expanding access to specialized care in the Monroe area and surrounding communities. 

Melissa Di Santo, MD, joins as a primary care physician. She will see patients at Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center. 

Dr. Di Santo earned her medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine, Saba Dutch Caribbean. She completed her residency in family medicine at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y., and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

Cory Fernandes, DO, joins the team as a primary care physician. He will see patients at Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center 

Dr. Fernandes earned his medical degree from Touro University Nevada in Henderson, Nevada. He completed his residency in family medicine at TIGMER – Laredo in Laredo, Texas. Following his residency, Dr. Fernandes completed a fellowship in sports medicine at LSU Health Shreveport. Fernandes is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Arie Shaw, MD, joins the staff as a board-certified hospitalist specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. She will care for patients at Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center.  

Dr. Shaw earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. 

Shaw is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is board-certified in her specialty.

These physicians join the Ochsner LSU Health Physician Group, which consists of more than 1,200 physicians and advanced practice providers in over 75 specialties and subspecialties. They will also serve in a teaching capacity as members of the LSU Health Shreveport faculty.
