Ochsner LSU Health Joins American Heart Association’s Groundbreaking Initiative to Revolutionize Heart Failure Care

SHREVEPORT, La. – Ochsner LSU Health is proud to announce Ochsner LSU Health – Academic Medical Center’s selection as the only hospital in Louisiana to participate in the American Heart Association’s groundbreaking IMPLEMENT-EF initiative.

This three-year program aims to enhance care for patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF). These conditions account for up to 75% of all heart failure cases.

The IMPLEMENT-EF initiative, supported by Bayer, aims to close gaps in patient care by identifying unmet needs, defining ideal care models and ensuring better use of proven therapies. Ochsner LSU Health will work alongside 39 top hospitals nationwide, using team-based care and real-world data to improve treatments for heart failure patients.

“Being part of this initiative underscores our commitment to providing the highest quality care for our patients,” said Chris Mangin, CEO of Ochsner LSU Health – Academic Medical Center. “Heart failure is a complex condition, and this program allows us to work alongside national experts to implement innovative, evidence-based solutions designed to improve outcomes for our community.”

The initiative will provide participating hospitals with access to educational resources as well as opportunities to collaborate with nationally recognized experts. Insights gained from the program will inform the American Heart Association’s broader approach to patient care, helping to scale effective care models nationwide.

Ochsner LSU Health’s participation in this initiative reflects its dedication to transforming patient care in Louisiana. For more information about the IMPLEMENT-EF initiative, visit heart.org/IMPLEMENTEF.
