Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport - Monroe Medical Center Unveils the Area's First Hybrid OR

MONROE, La. –Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport - Monroe Medical Center marked the completion of its new Hybrid Operating Room (OR) at a ribbon cutting today. An investment of approximately $3 million, the Hybrid OR provides a single surgical workspace that combines imaging equipment with a multifunctional surgical table.

The new Hybrid OR allows the medical team to treat patients needing multiple surgical specialties and diverse imaging in one space. The Hybrid OR makes it possible to increase the procedure mix for both minimally invasive and conventional open surgical procedures. In addition, it expands the function of a traditional cath lab to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease.

“Bringing this innovative technology to Northeast Louisiana as we expand our cardiovascular program offers one more tool to bolster the treatments available to area residents,” says Chuck Daigle, CEO, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport.

“By allowing clinicians to diagnose and treat in a single location, we can improve patient safety by reducing risk and delays. Minimizing locations for the patient’s treatment reduces variation, increases efficiency and can lead to better patient outcomes,” says Jonathan Phillips, COO, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport – Monroe Medical Center.
