Ochsner LSU Health to Host Menopause Lunch & Learn to Discuss Hot Flashes and Hormone Health

SHREVEPORT, La. – Ochsner LSU Health is engaging the community in an important conversation about women's health through an upcoming lunch and learn: When You’re Hot, You’re Hot.  This educational event offers women guidance and answers to common questions about menopause and symptom management.

The program focuses on understanding the biological changes that occur during midlife. While menopause is a natural transition, symptoms like hot flashes can impact daily life and overall well-being. The panel discussion will address three core questions: What is a hot flash? Who gets them? And most importantly, what can we do about them?

The lunch and learn takes place on Friday, Feb. 20. Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a presentation and panel discussion at 12 p.m. The event will take place at the Ochsner LSU Health – St. Mary Medical Center, Community Center, 911 Margaret Place, Shreveport, La. This session is free and open to the public.

Menopause marks the end of a woman’s reproductive years, often accompanied by hormone level shifts. According to the National Institutes of Health, approximately 1.3 million women in the United States reach menopause each year. Ochsner LSU Health is committed to helping women navigate this transition by providing access to expert care and reliable information.

Attendees will hear directly from trusted local experts, including John Haynes, MD, an OB-GYN at Ochsner LSU Health, and Holly Johnson, APRN, a Nurse Practitioner at Ochsner LSU Health. These specialists will share their expertise on hormonal health and discuss treatment options available to improve quality of life during menopause.

Participants will leave the event with a better understanding of their health and practical knowledge to manage symptoms effectively.

The first 50 people to sign up will receive lunch. To reserve your spot sign up here. To learn about women’s services at Ochsner LSU Health, visit  ochsnerlsuhs.org/services-departments/womens-services.
