SHREVEPORT, La. – Ochsner LSU Health is partnering with the YMCA of Northwest Louisiana to host a Lunch & Learn panel discussion focused on GLP-1 medications. The event offers the community an opportunity to hear clear, expert guidance on these treatments from trusted medical professionals.
The event, Navigating and Understanding GLP-1 Medications, will take place Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lash Family YMCA, 9440 Ellerbe Road. Organizers aim to address questions and provide reliable information on GLP-1 medications directly to the public.
Panelists include Naina Bouchereau-Lal, MD, a sports medicine and family medicine physician at Ochsner LSU Health; Kristen Kistler MS, RD, LDN, outpatient dietitian at Ochsner LSU Health; and Misty Alexander, wellness director at the YMCA of NWLA. The experts will discuss how GLP-1 medications work, possible side effects, and who might be an ideal candidate for this type of therapy.
“With so much conversation surrounding GLP-1s, it is vital that people have access to accurate information from trusted medical sources,” said Dr. Naina Bouchereau-Lal. “This event allows us to engage with the community, answer questions and empower everyone to make informed decisions about their health.”
The panel will also highlight the importance of healthy eating and exercise as key elements for long-term wellness, whether or not medication is part of a person’s health plan. The session will offer time for audience questions.
“We are proud to partner with the YMCA of Northwest Louisiana to bring this important conversation to our community,” said Kristen Kistler. “Our goal is to cut through the noise and provide a clear, balanced perspective on these medications and their role in a comprehensive health plan.”
The event is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend and learn more about GLP-1 medications from a dedicated panel of experts. The first 50 people to sign up will receive lunch; reserve your spot, Sign up Here.
