Ochsner Named to Becker's "100 Hospitals & Health Systems with Great Neurosurgery & Spine Programs"

Becker's Hospital Review announces 2017 edition of annual list

NEW ORLEANS — Becker's Healthcare named Ochsner Health to the 2017 edition of its list "100 hospitals and health systems with great neurosurgery and spine programs." Ochsner is the only hospital in Louisiana to be named to the list.

The organizations featured on this year's list have extensive neuroscience and spine programs, providing treatment and cutting-edge research into neurosurgical disorders. Many hospitals and health systems featured have earned top honors for medical excellence, outcomes and patient experience in their spine and brain surgery departments.

To develop this list, the Becker's Healthcare editorial team examined national rankings and awards for neurosurgery, neurological care and spine surgery. The editorial team examined U.S. News & World Report national rankings for neurology and neurosurgery; CareChex national and regional rankings for neurological care and Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery designation to develop this list.

Ochsner Health ranked a national 2017-2018 “Best Hospital” by U.S. News & World Report across four specialties, including the top 25 for neurology and neurosciences.

Ochsner’s Neurosurgery Program applies the latest technology and focus on patient-centered care. Its multidisciplinary team of nationally recognized experts provides state-of-the-art care to patients in a coordinated and efficient fashion.

The Ochsner Back and Spine Center is the area’s only comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment facility for patients of any age suffering from spine or back pain. The team is made of neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, pain management specialists, physical medicine experts and advanced rehabilitation practitioners. These physicians tailor treatment to specific conditions, lifestyles and healing goals.

Patients of Ochsner Health have the benefit of the industry-leading Epic, which provides an environment to safely and securely share patient information no matter where the patient receives care. In addition, through the Epic Care Everywhere Network, Ochsner [providers] can see patient records from hundreds of hospitals and healthcare facilities across the nation and four countries, allowing Ochsner to connect and coordinate with other cancer facilities as an extension of treatment if needed. This ensures a higher level of coordinated care, improves outcomes and is a great benefit for patients especially in challenging times like this.

Ochsner patients can make appointments and access test results and healthcare resources through the patient portal, MyOchsner. The implementation and continuous optimization of Epic and MyOchsner demonstrate Ochsner’s commitment to consistently leading the industry in innovations that improve quality, access and convenience for patients.

Becker's Hospital Review has published a version of this list since 2009. The full list features individual profiles of all hospitals on the list.
