LAFAYETTE, La. — Ochsner Health is making it easier for people in Acadiana to find and choose healthier food options by increasing the Ochsner Eat Fit items in its facilities and offering reduced prices of up to 50% off standard retail pricing and, in some cases, at cost.
The discounted Eat Fit options are now available at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedic Hospital, Ochsner St. Martin Hospital, Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics, Ochsner Acadia General Hospital, Ochsner Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital and Ochsner American Legion Hospital.
Already a trusted community resource, Ochsner Eat Fit helps people quickly identify menu items that meet nutrition standards developed by registered dietitians. Supported by partnerships with Morrison Healthcare, Canteen One and Coca-Cola, the initiative offers discounted items in Ochsner facilities and meets Ochsner Eat Fit nutrition standards, identified in collaboration with the Eat Fit team.
“Food plays a critical role in healing and overall wellbeing,” said Abby Goss, director of food & nutrition at Ochsner Lafayette General. “By making healthier options easier to identify and more affordable, we’re supporting our community in making choices that align with their health goals whether they’re here for care, work or to support a loved one.”
Ochsner Eat Fit at Festival International de Louisiane
For the first time, Ochsner Eat Fit will also partner with select food vendors to provide healthy menu options at Festival International de Louisiane, April 22-26. Festival-goers can look for the orange Eat Fit seal on vendor menus and download the Ochsner Eat Fit mobile app to explore the Festival International food directory.
Eat Fit menu items are marked with the Eat Fit seal, indicating they meet defined nutrition criteria for calories, fat, sodium and added sugars. The initiative supports Ochsner’s broader commitment to creating environments that make the healthy choice the easy choice.
