Through Epic’s partnership with Tempus, which analyzes cancer cells to understand a patient’s disease at the molecular level, Ochsner physicians can now seamlessly order tests and access discrete biomarkers within the patient’s electronic health record (EHR) to offer highly personalized cancer treatment options.
The award recognizes Ochsner Cancer Institute’s Chemotherapy Care Companion program—a digital technology system that allows the cancer care team to remotely monitor patients who are on intravenous or oral anti-cancer treatment to manage any symptoms or adverse events between their medical appointments.
Suma Satti, MD, thoracic medical oncologist with the Ochsner Cancer Institute, has been named the winner of this year’s “Woman of the Year” of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Mississippi-Louisiana Region. Man & Woman of the Year is a philanthropic competition to fight blood cancer among a group of motivated and dedicated individuals in communities across the United States.
Texas 4000 for Cancer, made up of students from the University of Texas at Austin, cycle 4,000 miles annually to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer. Their recent visit to the Benson Cancer Center marked their seventh year visiting Ochsner since 2016, including their virtual ride in 2020.
Ochsner, through a collaboration between its Ochsner Cancer Institute and Precision Medicine program, will offer the Galleri test by prescription to eligible patients in Louisiana to advance the delivery of cancer care.
In its ongoing efforts to serve more patients, while also enhancing patient experience and quality of care, Ochsner Cancer Center – Baton Rouge announces the completion of its most recent expansion. Additional appointments for cancer subspecialty services are available following the multimillion-dollar facility upgrade.
On September 28, 2021, Ochsner pulmonologist Susan Gunn, MD performed Louisiana’s first robotic-assisted bronchoscopy using the Ion system. Ochsner is the only hospital in the state offering this technology.
