Seven Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center locations re-certified for delivering high-quality cancer care

New Orleans, LA – Seven Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center locations have received recertification by the QOPI® (Quality Oncology Practice Initiative) Certification Program, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Association for Clinical Oncology and an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

The QOPI® Certification Program builds on ASCO’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative, providing a three-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet nationally recognized standards for quality cancer care.

Ochsner MD Anderson Locations QOPI® Certified

This recertification succeeds a 2022 certification and distinguishes the following Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center locations for their commitment to providing exceptional cancer care.

“QOPI® Certification reflects our physicians, nurses and care teams’ dedication to raising the standard of cancer care in our communities throughout the region. This recognition demonstrates our resolve to provide comprehensive, holistic, compassionate care,” said Zoe Larned, MD, medical director, Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center. "We understand that treating cancer goes beyond treating the disease. It requires a deep commitment to comprehensive care that addresses every aspect of a person’s well-being. Our focus is on treating the whole patient. This holistic approach is fundamental to our mission and reflects our dedication to the communities we serve."

Certification Process

To earn re-certification, locations participated in a voluntary comprehensive site assessment against clearly specified standards that are consistent with national guidelines and were successful in meeting the standards and objectives of the QOPI® Certification Program.

“Receiving QOPI certification shows a practice’s commitment to patient safety,” said Board Chair of the Association for Clinical Oncology Eric P. Winer, MD, FASCO. “QOPI certification is an important step towards ensuring that all patients receive the highest quality of care.”

The QOPI® Certification Program, LLC was launched in January 2010, and over 300 practices are currently certified. This certification for outpatient oncology practices is the first program of its kind for oncology in the United States and in 2016 was expanded internationally. Practices that are QOPI® Certified successfully met the standards and objectives of the QOPI® Certification Program, which includes scoring above the threshold on the key QOPI® quality measures and meeting chemotherapy safety standards established by the Society and the Oncology Nursing Society.
