CHALMETTE, La. – St. Bernard Parish Hospital is proud to announce it is the recipient of the 8th Annual LAMMICO Patient Safety Award and Grant, highlighting Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI) prevention.

For St. Bernard Parish Hospital to be one of two hospitals within the 4-state region of Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama recognized by LAMMICO and place first is impressive. By actively addressing the important issue of CLABSI prevention, St. Bernard Parish Hospital is setting a standard of patient safety and care of which to be proud,” said Lani Fast, chief executive officer, St. Bernard Parish Hospital.
All hospitals strive to prevent CLABSIs from occurring. These infections can lead to additional problems in patients that get them. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and experts in infection prevention have outlined measures that can help to prevent CLABSIs based on medical studies.
By demonstrating the most effective methods employed to prevent CLABSIs after completing LAMMICO's risk management and patient safety education, St. Bernard Parish Hospital was awarded:
