Ochsner Health and Pennington Biomedical Research Center analyzed 4,752 records from two large prevalence studies in both cities. The New Orleans data were collected in May 2020, the Baton Rouge data in July 2020.
The new facility, across the street from Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge, will offer expanded hours for drive-thru PCR testing, as well as vaccine doses and boosters for eligible children and adults.
This new study format models the concept of a more efficient, “flexible” clinical trial, which utilizes technology to enhance participant engagement by removing many of the common barriers to participating in a clinical study – proximity to study site, transportation issues, lack of time required for in person enrollment, and check-in appointments.
Drive-thru PCR testing for COVID-19 is available at the former Runnels School at 17255 S. Harrell's Ferry Road in Baton Rouge. In August, drive thru hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday thru Friday, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays.
