The general surgery residency program launched at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center will target the increasing physician shortage in the state, OLG’s chief medical officer Dr. Amanda Logue said.

Logue, who spoke with Jan Swift of the Discover Lafayette podcast, noted how 140,000 patients came though Ochsner University Clinics last year. The state also ranks third for the shortage of physicians by 2030, according to a Human Resources for Health analysis.
