The announcement of a partnership between Ochsner Health and Team Gleason to improve the overall health care experiences for patients living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), along with other neurological conditions, aligns with Ochsner’s recent announcement of the Debra H. and Robert J. Patrick Neuroscience Center.
According to a news release, the center is slated to become a 132,000-square-foot facility near Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans on Jefferson Highway. It was gifted by the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute. Following the grand opening, it will become the only major detached neuroscience facility in the south between Georgia and Texas, and its construction is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

Dr. Azer earned his medical doctorate (MD) from Alexandria University, School of Medicine in Egypt. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston Florida. He completed a regional anesthesia/acute interventional pain fellowship in addition to a chronic pain medicine fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Azer had extensive research experienced at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, publishing many studies on neuromodulation efficacy on chronic pain.
