Ochsner continues to grow its Baton Rouge cancer center; see what else is in the works

As part of a $10 million project, the health care system plans to build a specialty pharmacy for cancer drugs at the Ochsner Cancer Center in its O’Neal Lane complex. Ochsner already has a cancer-related pharmacy at The Grove off Interstate 10 near Siegen Lane and is building a similar pharmacy on Industriplex Boulevard near Siegen.

Among those honored, was Castille Anthony Hebert. His wife, Elaine Hebert spoke about her husband and the impact he was able to make as an organ donor, even after he passed away two years ago.

According to Ochsner Baton Rouge, the STaR Trial Network consists of 25 military and academic medical centers and over 50 of the best knee surgeons in the U.S. and Canada.

The medical director of Ochsner Baton Rouge’s sports medicine program says these types of knee injuries require extremely specialized care and training, comparing surgery necessary to transplant surgery.

New Emergency Department pediatric exam room now available at St. Charles Hospital

Designed to make children feel at ease and calm in a hospital environment, the room is sea-themed and features colorful aquatic graphics, search and find activities and a child-sized exam table. The colors used in the room were chosen with the intention to create a soothing and peaceful environment for when pediatric patients are brought to the ED for medical attention.

The hospital held a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 29 to officially open the room. The equipment and design were made possible by the generosity of the United Way of St. Charles.
