Two years ago, Ochsner announced a 10-year plan to pull Louisiana out of the health outcomes cellar, by working with state officials and community partners—notably Xavier University—on Healthy State, an initiative to improve access to care for the underserved, invest in health outcomes research, and use data to drive improvements. The goal: to move Louisiana into at least 40th place in America’s Health Rankings by 2030.

At 185,000 square feet, it has primary and specialty care clinics, outpatient surgery, physical therapy, pain management center, a drive-thru pharmacy, endoscopy suites, a Medi-Spa, behavioral health services and a cardiology and cath lab. There is a 10-bed micro-hospital to accommodate overnight stays, and the medical center is equipped with technology for telemedicine. The facility has a wayfinding system to help patients navigate it, as well as express check-in and valet parking.
