Corwin N. Harper

Chief Executive Officer, Ochsner LSU Health

Corwin Harper currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for Ochsner LSU Health, the non-profit partnership between Ochsner Health and LSU Health Shreveport (LSUHS) and healthcare delivery system for the LSUHS School of Medicine.

During the first five years of the partnership, Ochsner LSU Health grew from two hospitals and seven outpatient locations to a system including three hospitals, a behavioral health facility, and more than 20 outpatient locations. Now serving significantly more patients, the system has more than 4,200 employees and 950 physicians, including LSUHS faculty and residents. The expanded locations and workforce, along with improved processes and technology, have significantly increased access to care, a core component in achieving the system’s safety net mission. In alignment with LSUHS, Ochsner LSU Health also plays a vital role in teaching and training the next generation of our healthcare workforce. More than 1,000 nursing and allied health students participate in rotations at Ochsner LSU Health in addition to LSUHS medical students. The system also has great impact on the economic health of the region, generating substantial economic impact to North Louisiana and the entire state

Since joining Ochsner Health in 2021, Harper has served as Ochsner’s Chief Growth Officer and, previously, as CEO for our Northshore and Mississippi Gulf Coast region. With great enthusiasm, Harper has brought forward new ideas about how we grow and optimize our service offerings across the communities we serve. In his role as regional CEO, Harper strengthened collaboration with partners on the Northshore and was instrumental in deepening the partnership with Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Before arriving at Ochsner, Harper was with Kaiser Permanente in Northern California for over 25 years where he gained positions of increasing responsibility in healthcare and within the Kaiser system including Physician Practice Management, hospital operations, health plan management, and diversity and inclusion. He was CEO of three different markets in Kaiser Permanente for over 16 years and served as CEO of their Central Valley Region for his last four years with them. His leadership and business philosophy are grounded by an analytical and deductive approach to improving patient care and driving value-based efficiency across the healthcare continuum.

Harper earned an undergraduate degree from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, as well as a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from Baylor University. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Commissioned Medical Services Officer in the United States Army Medical Command.
