Denise Basow, MD

Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer, Ochsner Health

As Executive Vice President and Ochsner Health’s first Chief Digital Officer, Denise Basow, MD is responsible for growing the organization’s expanding suite of digital programs, including those associated with innovationOchsner, virtual care, remote patient monitoring and chronic disease management, while also increasing access and convenience in primary and specialty care.

Additionally, Dr. Basow leads Ochsner’s teams that focus on investing further in new digital health ventures, as well as other opportunities to further the organization’s vision to transform healthcare through technology.

Dr. Basow joined Ochsner in 2022 following a 25-year career with global information, software and professional services leader Wolters Kluwer and healthcare start-up UpToDate, where she leveraged innovation and technology to improve the quality of care by bringing evidence-based decision support into clinical workflows. Dr. Basow oversaw tremendous growth of UpToDate as General Manager of the business, before forming a new business within Wolters Kluwer in 2015 called Clinical Effectiveness, where she served as President and CEO. Becker’s Hospital Review named Dr. Basow to the list of Women in Health IT to Watch in 2022.

Dr. Basow received B.A. in Chemistry, summa cum laude, from Duke University, and her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her residency at Johns Hopkins University and practiced internal medicine.
