As System Vice President and Chief Clinical Transformation and Strategy Officer, Dr. George Loss leads adoption of new innovations in medicine, research and interactive health technologies. His efforts advance Ochsner Health’s vision of being a national leader in providing access and a consumer experience that attracts and retains patients while also making work easier and more effective for physicians.
Dr. Loss works closely with President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Hulefeld and Chief Digital Officer Denise Basow, MD, to implement processes across the system for Ochsner’s clinical staff and identify medical advancements redefining the future of healthcare.
Dr. Loss received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and his medical degree from the University of Arkansas. He completed a Doctor of Philosophy in immunology at the University of Chicago, where he went on to complete his residency and fellowships.
Since joining Ochsner Health in 1998, Dr. Loss has served as Chief of Surgical Services and Associate Medical Director of Surgery, System Chair of the Department of Surgery, and Chief of the Ochsner Transplant Institute, overseeing our nationally known program. Most recently, Dr. Loss has served as Regional Medical Director of Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans.
