Robert Hart, MD is the Chief Physician Executive and President of the Ochsner Clinic. As Ochsner’s chief physician executive, Dr. Hart leads the medical staff and builds relationships between Ochsner’s varied stakeholders to promote a cohesive strategy among Ochsner’s group practice, affiliated physicians and advanced practice providers. Through his work, Dr. Hart encourages innovative models of care delivery and emphasizes the highest quality of care while managing costs and continuously enhancing the patient and caregiver experience.
Dr. Hart is also responsible for integrating and aligning Ochsner’s more than 4,500 employed, affiliated and independent physicians at the organization’s teaching facilities, community hospitals and clinics. Previously, he served as executive vice president and chief medical officer with responsibility over all aspects of Ochsner’s group practice.
Dr. Hart received his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Texas Affiliated Hospitals in Houston.
Dr. Hart is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and has been on the staff of Ochsner Clinic Foundation since 1994. Prior to his time as executive vice president and chief medical officer, he served as medical director of Ochsner’s Baton Rouge Region before being appointed Regional Medical Director of Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans in January 2015.
