NEW ORLEANS Ochsner Health System and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) are pleased to announce the opening of Ochsner Health Center – Michoud. The new facility offers primary care onsite, and offers specialty services including cardiology, neurology (headache) and diabetes education through telemedicine. These visits are conducted virtually, through a computer, where a specialist is able to consult patients in the same way as an in-person appointment through Ochsner’s state-of-the-art technology. Physical therapy and rehabilitation are also available and laboratory services will be offered in the near future.

“The opening of Ochsner Health Center – Michoud represents the power of partnership,” said Brad Goodson, CEO, Ochsner North Shore Region. “Our leadership, along with NASA and Michoud, recognized the need to build a community within this facility and improve access to healthcare. Offering quality healthcare in a convenient location brings us one step closer to building a healthier and thriving community.”

“NASA is proud to have the Ochsner Health as a new partner on the Michoud campus,” said Keith Hefner, Director, NASA Michoud Assembly Facility. “The services they provide will benefit NASA and additional companies located at Michoud and will bring a new service to the community. We look forward to continuing this partnership for years to come and welcome them to the NASA family.”

NASA is the owner of the Michoud Assembly Facility, a world-class, multi-tenant 832-acre campus facility specializing in large scale aerospace manufacturing. Michoud is now home to a variety of companies from the commercial and governmental sectors. NASA continues to attract new business and fuel economic development in the gulf coast region that supports the 3,500 employees located at Michoud. Ochsner Health Center – Michoud fills a significant healthcare need in the community and joins a variety of amenities supporting the tenants of Michoud including a barber shop, dry cleaners and a gas station.

Patients at Ochsner Health Center – Michoud will have the benefit of Ochsner’s electronic health record system, Epic, which safely and securely shares patient information, resulting in a higher level of coordinated care. Ochsner offers additional convenience through MyOchsner, which allows patients to make appointments and access test results and healthcare resources online.

Ochsner Health Center – Michoud is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is currently accepting new patients. For more information or to make an appointment, please visit www.ochsner.org/michoud or call 504-703-8940.
