Major Milestone Reached in Construction of New High Grove Medical Complex

BATON ROUGE – Today Ochsner and The Lemoine Company reached a major milestone in the $100+ million construction of Ochsner Medical Complex – High Grove. Crews laid the final steel support beam, signed by Ochsner employees and medical providers, to celebrate a significant landmark in the construction phase.

The five-story, 255,000 square foot medical office building, 10-bed hospital and surgical center represents the newest medical innovation in the Baton Rouge region. It will house 85 medical providers working in primary care and multi-specialty clinics.

The complex is situated on approximately 25 acres of property as part of the High Grove development along the I-10 corridor between Bluebonnet and Siegen. The building will open in phases beginning in early 2019.

“By putting in place the final beam of our new High Grove location, we remain on schedule to not only change the physical landscape, but to expand our ability to provide world-class healthcare,” said Eric McMillen, CEO of Ochsner Baton Rouge. “Baton Rouge is expected to continue to grow at between four and nine percent over the next five years. Our new High Grove location will help meet the expanding need for healthcare, particularly outpatient services. We are very excited to reach this point in the construction.”

Specialty care is expected to include Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Sub Specialties, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and an Infusion Center. The new location will also include imaging, lab, pharmacy and retail food services.

The Hospital and Surgical Center will have 10 inpatient beds and include four state-of-the-art operating rooms, two endoscopy suites and two pain management procedure rooms.

“We’re continually looking for innovative ways to deliver the highest quality care to the Baton Rouge region,” said Aldo Russo, M.D., Regional Medical Director of Ochsner Baton Rouge. “Ochsner has been in Baton Rouge since the 1980’s, and I think it’s clear that we are dedicated to the people here in our community.”
